About PointsCraft

PointsCraft is an independent publisher and iOS app for people who use credit card points, miles, and recurring benefits seriously enough to want them tracked properly. We exist on two surfaces — this site and the iOS app — and the two share a single data backbone.

What we make

  • PointsCraft for iOS — a manual tracker for credit cards, recurring benefit credits (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual), point and mile balances, redemption goals, and welcome bonus progress. Built for iOS 17 and up. Coming soon to the App Store.
  • pointscraft.com — card reviews, side-by-side comparisons, “best for” lists, free tools, and a growing family-travel guide. Every card page is fed from the same catalog the iOS app uses, so the facts match across both surfaces.

Who we're for

The iOS app is built for the active points-and-miles optimizer — readers who carry multiple cards, work welcome bonuses, watch transfer-partner promotions, and want one place to see what each card is actually worth to them.

This site is built first for parents with kids — family travel, childcare credits, tuition coverage, gas and grocery earning, and the honest annual-fee math that goes with all of it. That focus reflects where we think trustworthy guidance is most missing right now, not a limit on who's welcome to read.

How we make money

We have two revenue lines and we're open about both:

  • PointsCraft Pro — an optional subscription on the iOS app that unlocks power-user intelligence features (welcome bonus planning, transfer-partner alerts, advanced analytics, CSV export, year-in-review). The manual-tracking foundation — unlimited cards, benefits, goals, programs, notifications, and iCloud sync — is free forever.
  • Contextual affiliate apply links — when a reader applies for a card through one of our links and is approved, we earn a commission. Every page that contains affiliate links shows an Advertiser Disclosure above the first link. The commission a card pays does not change its review score or its placement on “best for” lists — see our methodology for the editorial firewall.

We do not run display advertising on the iOS app — no banners, no interstitials, no rewarded video. That was a deliberate trade: the revenue from ads on a points-tracking app is dwarfed by the trust cost.

Editorial principles

  • Manual tracking by design. We do not connect to banks, scrape statements, or sync transactions. The user owns and enters their own data.
  • Every recommendation has to stand on its merits. If we wouldn't show a card to a reader who couldn't earn us a commission, we don't show it. The methodology page explains how this works in practice.
  • Honest numbers or no numbers. If we can't verify a benefit value, fee, or bonus against an issuer source, we leave it out rather than guess.
  • One catalog, one set of facts. The same card data feeds the iOS app and this site. A correction in one place propagates to both.
